RULES

THE BASICS
• This is a celebrity only community. Individuals must be famous for their occupation and not their association.
• Keep OOC and IC separate.
• If conflicts arise or if you have a problem with the community and/or moderation, please contact a mod directly by sending a PM to this journal. This is the preferred course of action, instead of dealing with them IC or even OOC in a vent community.
• The mods reserve the right to remove members for infractions of any of these rules. However, removals will not come without warning.

CELEBRITY PORTRAYAL
• Strive for realism. This means that researching your chosen celebrity is absolutely crucial and you should make effort to play them true to what has been expressed to the public. There is always room for creative interpretation, but have your portayal be based firmly on what is known.
• As important as accurate portrayals are, potential members are still encouraged to try their hand at a celebrity they haven't yet played. Go ahead and experiment, just try to do some research before you throw your character into the game.
• Realism also applies to maturity of your character, as well as plausability of storylines. Outrageous storylines are acceptable because they do happen, but try to put a little thought into it. This applies, of course, to pregnancies, marriages, divorces, and same-sex relationships.

THE COMMUNITY
• A community thrives because of its members and strong moderation. We hope to foster a friendly atmosphere as free of OOC drama as possible. This is why it's crucial to allow a mod to handle OOC issues. However, the mods are responsible for being present and dealing with the situation in as fair a way as possible.
• In addition, the input of members is encouraged and welcome. We want to make this a place in which everyone feels comfortable and feels that their needs are being met in some way. If you have suggestions or comments on how to improve the community and interaction, don't hesitate to PM this journal. The community belongs to its members and not just its moderators.
• CLIQUES are inevitable in communities and sometimes there are just writers we work with better than others. However, the best part of being at a community is finding more people to interact with. Therefore we encourage you to go beyond your comfort zone. Try commenting or IMing someone new. We realize there are characters who might not be as friendly, but do what you can.
• Members are allowed to create subcommunities. If your subcommunity is open to all members and you'd like your subcommunity listed, PM this journal.

ACTIVITY
• The update limit for this community is 6 WEEKS. Updating more frequently is definitely encouraged. Entries are expected to be substantial, but don't have to be extremely lengthy or profound. The more often you update, the less critical we may be on length.
• AIM is not required, but it is strongly encouraged. AIM activity helps bring members together and create more of a sense of community. If for some reason you find yourself absolutely unable to use AIM, you must be seen commenting journals and subcomm posts on a regular basis. Because of the longer update limit, it's crucial that you participate in AIM conversations and/or comment threads. If you're not planning to be active or find yourself unable to maintain activity once a member of the community, it is suggested you go on hiatus or open up the role for someone who would be. Another key to success in any community is the level of activity of its members.
• Stay in character and maintain realism, but on the whole do your best to be friendly and welcoming to one another. This is especially important in intro posts, as the first 48 hours of any character's time at a community can make or break them.
• Feel free to post to subcommunities as often as you feel is realistic for your character.
• If you require a hiatus, please PM this journal or respond to this post.
• Please promote the community.

APPLYING
• Make sure you have read the rules.
• Your character's username must only include their name. No excessive underscores. AIM screen names must include either first or last name. Only in rare cases will we be flexible on this and it will occur on a case-by-case basis.
• Link the disclaimer in your character's userinfo.
• This is not a first-come, first-serve community. However, a FIRST ENTRY IS NOT REQUIRED. Examples may be used in lieu of entries, as we understand that many find inspiration through interaction. Examples can be PMed or shown through an examples journal.
• If your application is deleted, you have not been accepted. This could be for a variety of reasons, but you may just not be right for this community at this time or we felt another applicant might have been more suited to a particular role. If the latter is true in your case, feel free to apply again as another celebrity.
• There is a chance we may ask you for additional examples. Please don't take offense, but we sometimes feel that one entry or examples provided are not enough to base an informed decision upon.
• Pre-existing storylines are fine and you may bring a group to the community. However, each application will be reviewed separately and decisions will be made independently.

ONCE ACCEPTED
• You have a week to post your introduction to [info]travelocity.
• If you do not have a first entry, you must update within two weeks of being accepted.
• Don't be an asshat, strive to go beyond your comfort level, and have fun.
